STUDIO PROJECT - Heraclitus Garden. We were given the task of designing a temporary outdoor “room” on the Main Mall at UBC.
Heraclitus’ maxim of not being able to step into the same river twice inspires this design formally and programmatically. As this installation was to be limited by a year, the shifting patterns of coloured and filtered light would only be experienced once throughout the garden’s existence.
Two small rooms are created by the bows of the ”river” while the path of the “river” itself creates opportunity to break up the mundane linearity of campus travel.
